Kickstarter Launch: Next Week!
Hey folks,
I'm excited to announce that Time Force will officially be launching next week Tuesday for Zinequest 2025! Woot!
We are super excited with this campaign as this project has been literal years in production! It was my second project design after Pro Patria Mori, so it has a place in my heart as one of the stepping stone projects on my journey in the world of TTRPGs! Coming back to it all these years later with fresh eyes and new skills under my belt have been fruitful in bringing Time Force to life!
A MATTER OF TIME
Time is one of those finicky things that really gets in the way of things. I've always been a fine of science fiction stories, and time seems to be one of those niggling constants that really gets into our heroes' faces. So, when thinking of Time Force, I always think about all those zany time-travel stories that stuck with me. Here are my top 3:
1. Stargate: SG1 - Window of Opportunity
If you're a Stargate fan, you probably already know about this episode. Probably the greatest episode ever produced in the show (in my not so humble opinion), the episode focuses on two of our characters as they are stuck in a time loop. They remember all the previous loops, but everyone else has to start from scratch. What ensues is a comedic, heartfelt, episode where our characters must decipher ancient texts, tolerate repeated annoyances, and let loose once every couple of loops in order to blow off some steam. Truly a silver-screen gem!
2. Star Trek: Voyager - Future's End Parts 1 & 2
Here's a two-parter! Voyager is one of my favourite Trekkie shows out there. It just works! It has a great crew, an overarching mission, and a captain anyone would welcome to take the helm! In this two-episode arc, the crew of the Voyager get drawn into the 20th century where they must blend in and stop a 90s tech mogul from taking advantage of alien technology and ruining the timeline forever! You gotta love the care and attention given to the 90s nostalgia of the episodes!
3. Futurama - The Late Philip J. Fry
Futurama is the greatest of all animated shows, and I will gladly die on that hill... but seriously, The Late Philip J. Fry is such an awesome time travel episode. In the episode the Professor invents a time machine that can only go forwards in time. When our heroes accidentally jump forwards a few thousand years, they have no choice but to keep going until they are happy with their current circumstances.
MORE TIME FORCE!
As part of the upcoming kickstarter campaign, I am working closely with Ray and Sebastián to create some cool extra bits for people to enjoy. Part of that is creating more fun content via postcards and shirts!
With the postcards, we have some fun visual cartoons that embody the spirit and chaos time travel entails. On the flip side, we want to create a bunch of different modules that can be used while playing! These range from pregen character sheets to extra modules to increase the fun! Below is an example Time Force squad called Wormhole Supreme :D
Regarding the shirt, I wanted to use the quote I heard which is an adjustment from the original written by John Heywood. He had originally written "Rome wasn't built in a day, but they were laying bricks every hour." This somehow changed over the centuries and we now have "Rome wasn't built in a day, but it burned in one."
I felt it was perfect for Time Force! It has the whole deviation from the historical fact aspect, the chaos and antics of building and destroying, not to mention Ancient Rome?! So why not memorialise the moment in a nifty tee!
I hope this update was not just an announcement, but a little fun and insightful too!
We're super excited with the launch of Time Force and hope you guys will join us on the adventure too!
Until the future, thank you all for your support and have an amazing weekend!
Lots of love,
Vince
