War of the Pips

War of the Pips is a medieval fantasy ttrpg that allows players to explore the world of Tavolo. The game revolves around a deck of playing cards, each suit being one of the four houses of the realm, each card embodying one of the world's NPCs.

THE GAME

War of the Pips is a TABLETOP   ROLE PLAYING   GAME where you can play either by yourself, or with a GM (Game Master) guiding between 1-4   PLAYERS on a fantasy adventure. 

This game uses its own OSR-style system, named Pipsqueak. The game leans on: 

• Player agency (do what you want)

• Resource management (items are valuable, and inventory space limited)

• Exploring a sandbox world (go where you wish). 

There are quests and NPCs that are run with a deck of playing cards, as well as tables you can roll dice with to develop and further the adventure.

SETTING

Players assemble in the world of Tavolo, where four houses are vying for power over the realm: the warrior house of  SPADES, the mercantile house of  DIAMONDS, the forestfolk house of CLUBS, and the magical house of  HEARTS. 

Each card represents one or more NPCs in this world along with a quest they wish the players to accomplish, while each player assumes one of the aces of each house. 

Complete quests, combat foes, and build alliances in this realm! The world of Tavolo is a dangerous one, so be sure you’re among friends you can count on when the going gets tough. It is up to each player to choose their destiny.

• Core Rulebook - 160 Pages of the core rules, game map, NPC & Quest sheets, Landmarks, Tables, etc. Everything you need in one place. Provided in both single sheet PDF and spreads. 

• Beyond Tavolo - A set of 3 Bookmarks and 3 Postcards that provide extended adventures beyond the map of Tavolo in the core rulebook. Cross the Endless Sea, and delve deep into the Dark Abyss. These include mini-maps, landmark details, and NPCs and quests. 

• Player Assist Tools - A collection of materials to assist players in playing the game. These include individual cards for: weapons mechanics, food and ingredients, potions list, interactive PDF horse card, and an interactive PDF house card. More to come!

CREATE YOUR OWN PIPSQUEAK STORY.

The Pipsqueak System was designed with the idea of providing a framework for other worldbuilders to build their worlds on a system they can quickly implement and share with their friends. 

To achieve this goal, feel free to use the Pipsqueak System World Builder, a google excel sheet with everything you need to create your very own Pipsqueak story.  Simply download a copy and edit it to your hearts content. 

We also plan on rolling out Indesign templates for those wanting to go the extra mile and create their worlds ready for print. Keep an eye out for that!
